DOD Hosts Federal Information Technology Shadow Day

The Department of Defense Acting Chief Information Office will host more than 200 high school students in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area during the month of February.  Fifty students will be hosted by Army, Air Force, and the Office for the Department of Defense Chief Informmation Officer at an information technology (IT) Job Shadow Day on Feb. 3, 1:30 p.m. EST at the Pentagon Library Conference Center, room B-3.
This is the Defense Department's fifth year participating in the event in partnership with the Federal CIO Council.  The event will be used to recruit the next generation of the federal government IT workforce.
The IT Job Shadow Day is an academic activity designed to give students a unique opportunity to observe the federal IT work world and learn about the many challenging IT careers within the Department of Defense.
The students will be divided into groups and spend the day with one of the several DoD components and agencies.  The IT Job Shadow Day allows students to discuss job opportunities with IT professionals, in addition to providing hands-on demonstrations that will assist in providing some insight of the opportunities that exist within the Department of Defense.
